Deep Purple is a British rock band formed in February 1968 in Hartford, England, and is considered one of the most notable and influential in hard rock of the 1970s. Music critics consider Deep Purple to be one of the founders of hard rock and highly appreciate their contribution to its development. The musicians of the "classic" Deep Purple line-up (in particular, guitarist Richie Blackmore, keyboardist John Lord, drummer Ian Pace) are considered virtuoso instrumentalists. More than 100 million copies of their albums have been sold worldwide. In 2016, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
