"Purpendicular" is Deep Purple's fifteenth studio work, released in 1996. The album title was coined by Ian Gillan. This is the first record that Steve Morse participated in recording. The album differs from other works of musicians in a more experimental sound.

Deep Purple was founded in Britain in February 1968 and became a symbol of heavy rock of the 70s. The band is considered the founders of hard rock, and is also credited with the development of the genres of heavy metal and progressive rock. The golden line-up includes vocalist Richie Blackmore, drummer Ian Pace and keyboardist Jon Lord. To date, the team has released 18 studio albums, which have sold a total of 240 million copies.
