Vinyl Player Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Esprit DC Piano 2M Red

This component of the Austrian company Pro-Ject is a modified version of the budget model Debut III Esprit. The version with the DC index in the name is equipped with a new improved power supply. The Pro-Ject Debut Carbon DC Esprit received a minimalist design without any frills.

The player table is made of MDF (7 color options are available) and rests on the surface with damping legs. The synchronous electric motor is decoupled from the body due to installation on a suspension made of sorbotane – a material that can well absorb and reduce vibrations. As a result, the hum is minimized and other interference is eliminated. The torque is transmitted from the two-stage motor pulley to the hub of the disc by means of a passer. The support disc with a diameter of 300 mm is made of matte acrylic and has a slightly increased mass compared to the Debut III Esprit. The plate is installed directly on the acrylic disc. The main bearing is made of stainless steel.

The rotation speeds are switched manually: to switch from 33.3 to 45 rpm, it is necessary to reinstall the drive belt on a larger diameter motor pulley. To do this, a special tool is provided in the kit. And to play vinyl discs at 78 rpm, you will have to purchase an additional pulley. To make a choice between speeds electronically, you will need a separate device, for example, the Pro-Ject Speed Box SE II. The main feature of the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon DC Esprit was the use of carbon as a material for the tonearm tube, which is rare in inexpensive devices of this kind.

Due to the use of such a light and durable polymer, rigidity and resistance to resonances are ensured, reverberation and sound staining are eliminated. The tonearm has a length of 218.5 mm, weighs only 6 grams and is equipped with an antiskating system, as evidenced by the suspended weight. The model is equipped with an Ortofon 2M Red audiophile MM cartridge with an elliptical diamond needle. All the necessary player settings for this pickup head were previously made at the factory.

When installing another cartridge, it is necessary to adjust the balance, azimuth, etc. again. On the back side there are gold-plated RCA output connectors and a grounding terminal. Instead of the standard interblock included in the kit, you can use another cable. Thanks to the improvements of the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon DC Esprit sounds more collected and cleaner in relation to other models of the Debut series. Carbon Esprit is characterized by the naturalness of the sound and timbral accuracy.
