Reissue on vinyl of the 1984 studio album "Ten Thousand Lightyears" by Boney M.
Like the record "Boonoonoonoos", this work has become the most difficult long-term construction in the context of production: the works on the album are recorded in various styles with the participation of the Munich Symphony Orchestra. Conceptually, the first part of the album is a rock opera dedicated to the resettlement of earthlings to a distant planet. The compositions in this suite consist of light but elegant melodies, greatly enriched with dexterous synthesizer effects and orchestral overflows. The best things from the first side of the record are the killer "Future World", combining hard rock guitars with cosmic synthesizers and symphonic backing tracks, as well as the atmospheric title track, which effectively contrasts the melodious melody with noisy percussion. The second side of the album is made according to the principle of a compilation: here Frank Farian, producer of Boney M., releases experimental demons into the wild and records, for example, a non-trivial techno version of the classic hit "Dizzy". "10,000 Lightyears" is difficult to measure in ordinary categories: this is a unique work that only Boney M. could record. - and therefore it is necessary to get acquainted with her separately.
The German band Boney M. was founded by the famous music producer Frank Farian in 1975 and literally a year later became one of the brightest pop sensations around the world. The most successful single of the band was the song "Rivers Of Babylon", which topped the charts all over Europe and managed to break into the American top 30. And the most successful albums were "Nightflight To Venus" and "Oceans Of Fantasy", both topped the British and German charts, and also received platinum statuses in these countries. Boney M. it is still one of the most published pop groups in the world: legal copies of albums and singles have exceeded 150 million copies, and the number of illegal ones is estimated at at least another 300 million. The band entered the Guinness Book of Records as having sold the largest number of singles in the UK, and in Germany Boney M. they still hold the lead in terms of time spent at the peak position of the national singles chart.
