The debut album by the British band Portishead was released in 1994 and was named "Dummy". The album immediately became a hit, it received double platinum sales status in Britain, platinum in Canada and gold in the USA. The record was fixed in the list of the "500 greatest albums of all time" (according to Rolling Stone magazine) at 419th place. It was largely due to this recording that the "trip hop" genre became known as the "Bristol sound" (Portishead is a band from Bristol).
The British band Portishead was founded in 1991 and performs preferably trip-hop and experimental electronic music. Despite their relative youth, the band has already left its mark on the history of music - their work has seriously influenced artists such as Wes Borland (Limp Bizkit), Kanye West, musicians Danger Mouse and Zemfira. To date, the band has released 1 live and 3 studio albums.
