"The Endless River" is a tribute to Rick Wright. "When we finished the sessions for Division Bell," says David Gilmour, "we had a lot of musical excerpts, only nine of which became the songs of the album. Now that Rick is gone and the opportunity to ever repeat it with him has disappeared, it seems right that the reworked tracks should become part of our repertoire."
In support of the album, the band released a video for the final track of the album (it is also the only track with words) "Louder Than Words", shot by designer and music video maker Aubrey Powell in the vicinity of the Aral Sea in Kazakhstan. The clip is intended to draw attention to the natural disaster that occurred in this region due to experiments with changing the riverbed.
The album was produced by David Gilmour, Phil Manzanera, Yuf (Youth - Martin Glover) and Andy Jackson. Design: Creative Director - Aubrey Powell (Hipgnosis); envelope - Styrolouge; cover concept - Ahmed Emad Eldin.
The publication includes a 16-page booklet with unreleased photos taken during the 1993 sessions.
