Frank Vincent Zappa is an American composer, singer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter, experimental musician, and sound and film director. For more than thirty years of his career, he has covered genres such as rock, jazz, academic and concrete music. He has released more than 60 studio albums, which he recorded both with his band The Mothers of Invention and solo. Self-taught musician. As a teenager, he was fond of rhythm and blues, as well as the work of avant-garde artist Edgar Varese. While studying in high school, he began composing symphonic works and played drums in a rhythm and blues band, in which he later switched to electric guitar. The mixture of various musical genres led him to create music that often could not be attributed to any one style. His debut album "Freak Out!" in 1966 was a combination of rock and roll songs with various improvisations and studio sound effects. His subsequent albums also shared this eclectic and experimental approach, regardless of whether the main genre was rock, jazz or classical music. In the satirical lyrics of his songs, he sharply criticized general education and religion, at the same time defended freedom of speech, promoted self-education and participation in political life, and opposed censorship. Several of Zappa's albums were commercially successful, especially in Europe, thanks to which he was able to work for most of his career regardless of record labels. Zappa's works have found a wide response from music critics and have had a noticeable impact on the work of many important composers and performers. Zappa was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995, and his career was awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997.
