The new live album of the great Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmore.
The edition is on four 180-gram vinyls.
"In 2015, David Gilmore came up with the idea to play a series of concerts in historical places around the world. The following year, he managed to become the first performer to perform in front of the audience at the Pompeii amphitheater since the gladiators fought here in 79 BC. For David himself, this visit was a return to Pompeii: for the first time he played here in 1971 for the legendary concert film by Adrian Maben "Pink Floyd Live At Pompeii". At the time of the Romans, the Pompeian amphitheater was known as the "Spectaculum" - and David called his longtime colleague and maestro of color and light Mark Brickman to the rescue to return the play to the Spectaculum" - Polly Samson, 2017.
On July 7 and 8, 2016, David Gilmour gave two special concerts in the legendary Pompeii Amphitheater, located in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius. Speaking about the performances in Pompeii, David Gilmore remarked: "It's a magical place. To come back here and see the stage and the arena was quite exciting. This place belongs to ghosts..."
The concert film "David Gilmour - Live at Pompeii" was shot as 4K by director Gavin Elder and includes highlights of both performances. The concert itself is an impressive audiovisual experience with the participation of the famous huge circular screen-cyclorama, as well as lasers, pyrotechnics and unforgettable performances from the star group.
The film will include songs written throughout David's career, including the title tracks of his last two #1 solo albums, "Rattle That Lock" and "On An Island". Also included in the film are other solo works and such classic Pink Floyd stuff as "Wish You Were Here", "Comfortably Numb" and "One Of These Days" - the only song that Pink Floyd performed there in 1971. Both concerts also saw extraordinary performances of "The Great Gig In The Sky" with "The Dark Side Of The Moon", which David rarely plays as a solo artist.
