"A Moon Shaped Pool" is the ninth studio album by British rock band Radiohead, released on May 8, 2016 via XL Records. After experimenting with using a large number of samples and loops on the band's previous CD (The King of Limbs) and Thom Yorke's recent solo record, live instruments occupy the central place of the new album; in addition, it contains orchestral arrangements and choral vocals. The influence of electronics and ambient can also be traced. The album contains several songs from earlier periods of the band - for example, "True Love Waits" was written back in the mid-nineties, and "Burn the Witch" in 2000. The CD received rave reviews from leading music publications, including Rolling Stone magazine, which called it "a relentlessly memorable, stunning triumph... the most spectacular and inconsolable of the band's albums."
The British rock band Radiohead was formed in 1985, and its line-up has remained unchanged since that time. The debut album "Pablo Honey" was released in 1993 and brought the band its first popularity in the UK, which grew significantly after the release of the second album "The Bends" (1995). In 1997, the release of the third album "OK Computer" took place, which made Radiohead world stars and became one of the most significant rock albums of the 1990s. The band has won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album three times, and all of its longplays have gone gold or platinum in the UK and USA. There are also several NME Awards, MTV Video Music Awards and Q Awards. According to Rolling Stone magazine, Radiohead was ranked 73rd in the list of the greatest musicians in history. Radiohead's style is traditionally defined as alternative rock, although at various stages the sound ranged from britpop to art rock and electronic music.
