Giant Steps is the fifth studio work by John Coltrane, originally published in 1960. This is the musician's first album recorded for Atlantic Records. Many tracks from the record have become models for many jazz saxophonists. In 2004, the album was included in the National Recording Registry list compiled by the Library Of Congress.
American jazz musician John Coltrane was born in 1926 and died in 1967. Along with Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker and Louis Armstrong, Coltrane is considered the most influential jazz musician of the 20th century. The musician is included in the list of "100 greatest saxophonists" according to DigitalDreamDoor magazine. He was canonized in the African Orthodox Church.
