Subwoofer cable Audioquest Black Lab
AudioQuest sub Black Lab is a high-quality subwoofer audio cable from an American company and a leading manufacturer of professional cables in the market of Hi-Fi and High-End audio and video equipment.
In the AudioQuest sub Black Lab cable, the conductors are made of long-grained solid copper, which provides a smoother and cleaner sound compared to cables that use conventional oxygen-free high-conductivity copper (BMVP).
In addition, the AudioQuest sub Black Lab cable uses the same conductors for positive polarity and ground connections. Under the 100% foil screen covering the surface there is an uninsulated conductor – exactly the same as the insulated central one. The conductor under the screen is dual-purpose: it performs the functions of an audio connection with a low level of distortion and a drainage wire connecting the screen to the "ground".
AudioQuest sub Black Lab conductors use air-filled insulation of foamed polyethylene, since air almost does not absorb energy, and polyethylene does not create large losses and has a "gentle" distortion profile. Due to the presence of air in the foamed polyethylene, the latter causes a much smaller defocusing effect compared to other materials.
Manufactured with high precision, the gold-plated plug is carefully attached using the best solder. The solder from AudioQuest does not contain a lot of silver, since the more of it in the solder, the more difficult it is to get a high-quality connection.
Features:
- Noise scattering by a metal layer. Noise scattering "shields the screen" by absorbing and reflecting most of this noise/RF energy before it reaches the layer attached to the ground.
- Symmetrical geometry of the coaxial cable. Identical positive (+) and negative (-) conductors prevent the screen from being used as the lowest conductor of sound.
- Welded, gold-plated terminals. This plug design allows you to use a connection without solder, which is a common source of distortion. Instead of soldering, a high-pressure technique is used in this process. Since the ground shells are stamped rather than machined, the metal used can be chosen with a low level of deformation instead of machinability.
- Solid long-grained copper (LGC) guides. Solid long-grain copper (LGC) provides a smoother and cleaner sound than cables that use regular OFHC copper (oxygen-free high conductivity). Solid conductors prevent the interaction of cores, which is the main source of distortion. LGC has fewer oxides in the conductive material, fewer impurities, fewer grain boundaries and significantly better performance.
- Polyurethane foam insulation. Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. The insulation of the wires and the materials of the printed circuit board absorb energy. Some of this energy is stored and then released in the form of distortion. Since air practically does not absorb energy, and polyethylene has low losses and a good deformation profile, polyethylene foam with a high air content causes much less of the defocusing effect characteristic of other materials.
