Forest 48 contains conductors made of copper with a silver coating of 0.5%, the direction of which is regulated for the most effective dispersion of radio frequency noise.

AudioQuest "48" HDMI cables allow you to transmit professional video in 10K Ultra-HD format. The bandwidth of 48 Gbit/s is provided by 4 balanced audio/ video pairs with a speed of 12 Gbit/ s each. The precision and tighter manufacturing tolerances required to produce HDMI cables with up to 48 Gbps of bandwidth mean that many of AudioQuest's time-tested components and techniques are more important than ever before.

AudioQuest 48 Gbps HDMI cables have the bandwidth required for video with resolutions up to 10K and resolutions/refresh rates up to 8K/60 and 4K/120. All AudioQuest HDMI cables are fully backward compatible with existing 4K displays.

This is the basis of AudioQuest noise reduction technologies. Traditional "100% shielding" is not enough to protect against the increasingly widespread effects of Wi-Fi, cellular and satellite radiation. In AudioQuest HDMI cables, all 19 conductors are directional controlled to minimize RF noise that degrades performance by "directing" or diverting it away from the most vulnerable circuits. Additional noise dissipation methods (levels 2 and higher) are used, if budget allows, to further reduce noise.

In AudioQuest HDMI cables, increasingly thick layers of silver coating are applied to AudioQuest long-grain copper (LGC) conductors to improve noise dissipation. Placing high-quality metal on the outside of the conductor gives the greatest improvement in overall performance - an extremely cost-effective way to maximize the use of a digital cable. Forest 48 uses 0.5% silver-plated copper for its conductors.

Because sound matters, the eARC conductors in AudioQuest 48-series HDMI cables receive the same love and affection using the same best metals, directional control conductors and noise dissipation technologies as the main AV data pairs. In AudioQuest eARC-Priority cables, the main A/V data pairs have performance at the "cinnamon" level (solid 0.5% silver Forest 48 + carbon fiber and level 3 noise insulation for vodka 48), while the eARC data pair and earthing tap use all the same advanced design elements as their "48" counterparts. The HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) sends audio from the TV to the soundbar or AV receiver for greater simplicity and flexibility in system setup. Previous ARC hardware capabilities have peaked at 5.1-channel lossy surround sound compression.
