The Ortofon 2M Blue pickup head has an advanced electromagnetic conversion system that allows you to increase the output voltage to 5.5 mV. The needle of the 2M Blue pickup head has an elliptical sharpening (nude elliptical) of the diamond tip.

The Ortofon 2M series was developed in collaboration with Danish designer Møller Jensen (Møller Jensen Design), the same designer who created the look of the award-winning MC Jubilee and Kontrapunkt series. Inspired by the facets of a diamond, the delicate contour gracefully sliding along the groove of the recording, the solid and at the same time elegant 2M series demonstrates a magnificent combination of elegant form and technical perfection.

The Ortofon 2M series is designed for precise and careful extraction of information from the recording groove. Our philosophy is to reproduce the recorded sound as accurately as possible, without introducing any coloring. We have optimized the design for ease of installation of cartridges, weight and dimensions for compatibility with the most common players on the market today.

The name of the 2M series, was selected among many others. We wanted to find a modern name that would be easy to pronounce and remember, so this alphanumeric name was chosen, 2M means MM - short for moving magnet (moving magnet).

Of course, 2M is not just a new prettier face. This series has been designed to the highest standards and complies with Ortofon's strict policy aimed at ensuring the most accurate and unpainted reproduction.

In order to obtain a flat frequency response, as in MS cartridges, the Ortofon 2M series uses an electromagnetic generator developed by Ortofon with separated poles. This original development was previously used in the 500 series and the Super OM series.

The Ortofon 2M series was the last product of our former chief engineer Windfield. He worked on the creation of the Ortofon 2M series for two years.
