The Audio-Technica VM670SP pickup head is a VM-type pickup with a dual magnetic system and a highly efficient paratoroidal converter design, for playing records with a rotation speed of 78 revolutions per minute.

V M cartridges from Audio-Technica are distinguished by a unique design. This design increases the efficiency of the movable system and ensures perfect contact of the needle tip with the recording groove. In addition, the VM670SP series cartridges use a paratoroidal converter design located inside the head housing, which allows you to eliminate any losses in sound information and obtain the highest efficiency of the converting system. The arrangement of a two-coil electromagnetic converter system, with a central shielding plate between the coils, allows for a wide and uniform frequency response and almost completely eliminates the interference of the coils of the right and left channels.

The Audio-Technica VM670SP pickup head is equipped with a needle with a conical profile. The conical profile with a large radius of rounding (Conical Bonded 3 mil) is suitable for playing old 78-rpm shellac and vinyl records with a wide groove profile.

The coils of the Audio-Technica VM670SP pickup are wound with 6N-OFC copper - oxygen-free copper of a high degree of purification (99.99997%).
