Lana Del Rey (real name Elizabeth Woolridge Grant) is an American singer and songwriter. Her music has been noted by critics for its cinematic style, preoccupation with tragic relationships and melancholy, as well as for references to American pop culture, particularly the 1950s and 1960s. Del Rey began her career in 2005, but worldwide fame came to her after the release of her debut single "Video Games" in 2011. Del Rey gained further recognition after the release of her second studio album, Born to Die. In 2012, French DJ Cedric Gervais released a remix of Del Rey's song, "Summertime Sadness", which debuted at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In November 2012, the singer released a mini-album "Paradise", which was nominated for the American Grammy Music Award in the nomination "Best Vocal Pop Album". In 2013, Del Rey released the short film Tropico, of which she is the screenwriter, composer and actor. In 2014, Del Rey released her third studio album, "Ultraviolet", which received a positive critical and commercial reception; the album debuted at number one on the US chart. During May and June 2015, Del Rey performed as part of her own concert tour in North America, The Endless Summer Tour, after which, in September of the same year, the singer released her fourth studio album "Honeymoon", which received positive reviews and commercial success. On July 21, 2017, the singer's fifth studio album, titled Lust for Life, was released. The album received positive reviews from critics, and also debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.
