Finally, this iconic CD, which has sold over 250,000 copies worldwide, is also available on vinyl.
"In Cuba, music is a part of life, daily bread." (Wim Wenders)
As an A&R consultant, Juan de Marcos has already gathered elderly gentlemen Ibrahim Ferrer, Ruben Gonzalez, Pio Leyva, Manuel Licea "Puntillita", Manuel Torres, among others, together with Segundo, Rai Cooder and Wim Wenders. The result was the film and the twice-nominated "Echo" and Oscar-nominated soundtrack "Buena Vista Social Club", which was on the charts for more than 80 weeks. The collaboration created a buzz that also led to sold-out tours in 2000 (Live From Buena Vista in May, solo Open-Airs by Ibrahim Ferrer and Ruben Gonzalez) and double platinum for the CD.
"Success cannot be repeated. One can only pay tribute to the development"
And here we are. Recorded at the Abdala Studio in Havana, JUAN de MARCOS, in addition to a beautiful ballad with LUIS FRANK, again became a musical inspiration. This time, together with LUIS FRANK, the founder of AFRO CUBAN ALLSTARS, they connected, among other things, the older gentlemen (PIO LEYVA, MANUEL LICH PUNTILLITA, MANUEL TORRES, RUDY CALZADO) with the younger generation of the Cuban son.
The music of this CD recalls the joy of life, so well shown in the film, and represents all the styles that make Cuban music so popular, no matter if you take ballads, an unconventional interpretation of "Guantanamera".
