The latest direct drive without a core provides precision rotation stability

In the creation of the drive unit, the main component of the player, the technologies developed in the design of SL-1200 type players and professional SL-1000R type players were used. The direct drive without a core, the same as in the SL-1200GR devices, allows you to achieve high accuracy of rotation and playback of the recording signal. In order to avoid uneven rotation, called synchronous torque, a layer of shock-absorbing rubber is applied to the entire rear surface of the support disc (on which the plate is placed). This allows optimal control of the inertia of the reference disk. A special material is attached to the cast aluminum frame of the player — a mixture of ABS and fiberglass, which forms a two-layer structure. The vibration damper consists of a spring and rubber, providing optimal vibration damping. As in other Technics products, this device uses a universal statically balanced S-shaped tonearm. A precision bearing with the same gimbal suspension and housing as in the SL-1200 devices provides high sensitivity at the time of launch. In addition, to further improve reliability, a removable power cable and gold-plated terminals of audio and line connectors are provided, which reduces sound degradation.

The shield-like design of the built-in sound equalizer suppresses external noise and noise from the power supply. In addition, a line output switch is provided in case it is not used. The design of the player provides reliable protection of the output signal from the pickup from negative external influences. The dedicated power supply circuit for the RCA output signal unit is isolated from the power supply circuit of the line output unit. At the same time, the length of the RCA output signal contour is minimal, which contributes to the preservation of sound quality. Isolated connector blocks also prevent connection errors. The kit includes an Ortofon 2M Red MM type pickup head. This head enhances the sound quality of vinyl recordings on the SL-1500C player.

Automatic lifting function for the convenience of changing plates

Upon reaching the end of the plate, a special mechanism automatically lifts the pickup head, which protects the plate and needle from wear. The components performing this function are placed at the base of the tonearm, which eliminates their impact on the tonearm itself. The simple design, which does not involve the use of an engine, does not have an electrical effect and vibration on the tonearm and does not affect its movement. Due to numerous user requests to equip the player with an automatic lifting function, the design that least affects the sound quality was chosen. At the same time, the player has the minimum necessary set of playback functions, which ensures simplicity and ease of use.
