AudioQuest digital coaxial cables are designed to minimize distortion in an extremely wide bandwidth. For many installations, the speed of digital communication is important. Most clearly, "speed" is the transfer of large files as quickly as possible or the transfer of enough data for high-definition video. For Digital Coax cables, "speed" is crucial not because of how fast, but because the time relationships in the digital stream are crucial to restoring the analog signal that brings us information, music and joy. The time damage (jitter) for this information in the data packet makes the sound small and flat instead of voluminous, hard and dirty, and not smooth and transparent.

Dense conductors eliminate voltage distortion and reduce jitter. The durable silver conductors are excellent for very high frequency applications such as digital audio and video. Such high frequency signals travel almost exclusively to the surface of the conductor. Because the surface is made of high purity silver, the performance of AudioQuest Carbon is very close to that of solid silver cable, but at a price much closer to solid copper cable. This is an incredibly cost-effective way to manufacture very high-quality digital coaxial cables.
